Marcelo Brozovic Is The Midfield Leader Of This Inter, Italian Media Highlights

Marcelo Brozovic has become the leader of Inter’s midfield according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Croatian national team player returned to action in Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League group stage win over Borussia Monchengladbach having recovered from COVID-19.

Inter have reverted back to a 3-5-2 and Brozovic was back in his role just in front of the defence, something which excites him after a few difficult moments in the past few months.

Brozovic very nearly left Inter for Paris Saint-Germain in a swap that would have seen Inter acquire Leandro Paredes during the most recent transfer window and there was also the drink driving incident as well as the incident in one of the local hospitals.

That was not the first time that Brozovic came close to leaving either with him coming close to leaving during Frank de Boer, Stefano Pioli and Luciano Spalletti’s tenures in charge.

Brozovic is now back though and is the leader of the Inter midfield. Whilst he is not N’Golo Kante, the player Inter manager Antonio Conte wanted at all costs, Brozovic showed versus Borussia Monchengladbach that he was the ‘missing piece’ for Inter to regain ground in the title race.
