Former Inter and Bologna midfielder Gaby Mudingayi has shared his belief that it will be a beautiful match between his two former employers at San Siro, which is due to take place later on today.

Inter head into the match sitting in second place and could reduce the gap between themselves and league leaders AC Milan to just two points provided they win and the Rossoneri lose.

Bologna are currently in 10th place and will come into the match knowing they have what it takes to beat Inter having beaten them when they last met at San Siro in July.

“I’m sure it will be a beautiful match. They are two teams that come into the match off the back of convincing victories in the league, so I think morale will certainly be sky high,” the former Belgian national team player explained in an interview with Italian news outlet 1000cuorirossoblu.it.

He was then asked whether having success is important in the UEFA Champions League ahead of Inter’s final group stage match at home to Shakhtar Donetsk this coming Wednesday.

“Of course, winning is always something that allows you to gain more confidence and awareness of your strength, even more if you do it in a competition as complicated as it is. It’s the Champions League.

“However, it must be said that a cup match consumes your energy, but Inter have a high-level squad and I’m sure the coach will know how to manage the match.”

Mudingayi, who also had spells with the likes of Torino, Lazio and Pisa during his playing career, then expressed his thoughts on Christian Eriksen’s situation at Inter.

“I think he is a very important player, he is strong but when such a player cannot find space it means that we are faced with a problem. The most important thing, however, is the team, the collective.”

He also shared his thoughts on Inter’s chances of winning the Serie A title: “You just have to look at the squad and you can say that Inter have all the credentials to fight for the Scudetto.”
