Cagliari goalkeeper and Inter linked Alessio Cragno discussed his love of the Rossoblu, playing for a big club and his defense in Sardinia in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport

“As a little boy I was a fan of Fiorentina. Now my team is Cagliari and I swear that I only think about this club, who have decided to raise the bar and have just started an important project.”

The 26-year-old Italian shot stopper, who is contracted to the Sardinian side until 2024, then touched on if he thinks about playing for a big club or competing in Europe.

“I don’t think about it. I really don’t. Qualifying for Europe with Cagliari? Look, there is a real project here. We want to make the leap of quality.”

Finally, Cragno spoke about two of his defenders, former Inter defender Diego Godin and 20-year-old Pole Sebastian Walukiewicz, who renewed his contract with Cagliari until 2024 yesterday.

“Walu has a strong personality and sense of position, he doesn’t speak much, but he is always there. Godin is a born leader. A serious professional who takes care of details. He is good for the squad.”

Cragno has made nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 810 minutes. In that time, he has conceded 19 goals and kept one clean sheet, as Cagliari sit 12th in the table.

Inter are looking for a long-term replacement for aging veteran Samir Handanovic, with options including Cragno as well as Udinese shot stopper Juan Musso.

The Nerazzurri are in no rush to replace the 36-year-old Slovenian, whose contract expires at the end of next season, after 10 years at the club.
