Former Palermo and Parma defender Cristian Zaccardo discussed the strongest strikers in Serie A in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio 24 earlier today, on the show ‘Tutti Convocati’.

“There are some great strikers in Serie A, it’s great because the league is going back to high levels with all these goal scorers.

“Romelu Lukaku when he arrived wasn’t so consistent, now he is devastating. He and Zlatan Ibrahimovic manage to make a difference with their strength.”

The 27-year-old Lukaku, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, has made 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 969 minutes.

In that time, he has scored 12 goals and provided two assists, contributing to a goal on average every 69 minutes on the pitch.

He has continued his incredible form from last season, where he netted 34 times across all competitions in his debut campaign with the Nerazzurri under coach Antonio Conte.

The former Manchester United forward is an incredibly key part of the 51-year-old Italian’s tactical system and his absence earlier this season, when he missed two games due to a small muscle tear, was heavily felt by the squad, who lost one of those games and drew the other.
