Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed the Milanese club’s important 3-1 win over Bologna earlier tonight in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV after the game.

First, he touched on how the win against the Rossoblu continues a consistently strong run of games.

“Absolutely. Bologna was not the first nor the last to change system against us. If every time the opponents change system in facing us there will be a reason. 3-5-2 is not a defensive system as some people say.

“If every time opponents change the way they play to defend there will be a reason. Last season we scored 110 goals, this year we are following the line, we are the team that in Serie A scores the most.

“It is indeed a system that requires more attention at the back, going to find the right balance.

“Disappointed with the goal right away, the only flaw today, otherwise it would have been a perfect match. However, it must make us understand that we must always be careful, fierce and determined, without giving away anything.”

The 51-year-old Italian coach discussed the team’s incredibly strong attack and goal scoring prowess.

“This is the observation of what was already done last year. Only Atalanta scored more than us and this season we have the best attack. We create so much, even today it was a game in which we could have scored more.

“Well, the way is right, ambitious teams, in any case, must have the right balance. We are trying to remedy some uncertainties since the beginning of the season, we are trying to balance that sector.”

Finally, Conte spoke about the team’s strong performance overall and in particular the impressive game played by Moroccan wing back Achraf Hakimi, who scored a brace against the Rossoblu.

“I have always said and I will never tire of saying this. At Inter there is no middle ground, either everything is fine or everything is bad.

“After his performance against Benevento, he was considered the new Garrincha, then, after some mistakes, there was no lack of criticism for a player who, remember, is 20 years old and has only been played at certain levels for two years.

“The potential is there, at the same time he knows very well that he must complete himself, he can become one of the best in his role, but in Italy it is more difficult than in Germany, in England, where there’s more space.

“Here you are immediately baptized. He is a humble person, who trains and works with commitment. Let’s see now if against Shakhtar it will be the case to start immediately with him or during the game. Against Borussia his insertion was fundamental. He will give us great satisfaction.”

The Nerazzurri’s win over the Rossoblu means that they have returned to second in the Serie A table, sitting on 21 points, two behind intercity rivals AC Milan who face Sampdoria tomorrow evening.

The Milanese club’s next game is against Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk next week, a crucial Champions League clash. Antonio Conte’s side need to win if they want to qualify for the next stage of the competition.
