Inter defender Stefan de Vrij discussed the Nerazzurri’s key 3-1 win over Bologna earlier tonight in an interview with Italian broadcaster Inter TV after the game.

“We managed the game well, we played as a team, compact and together. We had a good first half, we went ahead and doubled it.

“Unfortunately, then we conceded, but we never had the feeling that we could drop points. We stayed focused and closed out the game.”

He commented on the importance of rotating the squad, considering the incredibly busy schedule and abnormal season thanks to Covid-19.

“I think making sacrifices for each other is an important aspect of being a team. We have to keep going like this and get results. We’ve been doing it lately and that’s the important thing.”

Finally, De Vrij spoke about the confidence gained from this win ahead of next week’s vital Champions League clash against Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.

“We are aware that we have a final, a very important match ahead of us. This team performance and this attitude will also be needed on Wednesday, we will do everything to win and we hope to continue on this path.”

The 28-year-old De Vrij, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has made 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1096 minutes.

In that time, he has helped the side keep two clean sheets.

Inter’s win over Bologna means that they are second again in the league table, sitting on 21 points, two behind rivals AC Milan who play Sampdoria tomorrow.

Their next game in the league is next weekend against Cagliari, who face Hellas Verona tomorrow.
