Inter are hopeful that Mauricio Pochettino would replace Zinedine Zidane in charge of Real Madrid in the event that the Frenchman is sacked according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Inter are hoping that Zidane is sacked and replaced by Pochettino as it is understood that Christian Eriksen would become one of Real Madrid’s top transfer targets if Pochettino took charge.

Pochettino worked with Eriksen with great success at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the report suggests that the two could possibly be reunited with one another in the Spanish capital.

Eriksen joined Inter in the most recent January transfer window and many reports in the media as of late have suggested that it is inevitable that he will leave the club next month having failed to live up to expectations at the Nerazzurri club.

This season the Danish national team player has made 10 appearances across all competitions to date this term but has not made any goal contributions.
