Matteo Darmian could potentially come back into the Inter starting line-up at left wing-back in Inter’s final UEFA Champions League group stage match at home to Shakhtar Donetsk in the coming days according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The 36 time Italian national team representative found himself back on the bench for Saturday’s match versus Bologna despite several good performances.

He came on for the final 19 minutes of the match at San Siro but could start from the first whistle versus Shakhtar Donetsk but rather than play at right wing-back, he could play at left wing-back instead.

After scoring twice in the win over Bologna, Achraf Hakimi stands a chance of retaining his place at right wing-back and the report claims that Ashley Young or Ivan Perisic could play at left wing-back if Darmian is not selected to play there.

The report goes on to add that if Arturo Vidal is available, it will remain to be seen who Inter manager Antonio Conte cuts from the starting line-up between Marcelo Brozovic, Roberto Gagliardini and Nicolo Barella.
