Former Danish national team manager Ă…ge Hareide has come to the defence of Christian Eriksen amid the recent treatment that he has been subjected to by Inter manager Antonio Conte.

In the past few matches that Inter have played, Conte has decided to bring Eriksen off the bench for the final few minutes of the game, something which Hareide, and several others considered to be humiliating for the player, who has had a difficult time ever since joining Inter in the most recent January transfer window.

“I think it’s a humiliating thing. It’s never fun to not be a starter but it’s humiliating to be put on the field in extra time as happened on Saturday. Conte is wrong, Eriksen is good enough to be able to play more for Inter,” he explained in an interview with Danish news outlet B.T Sport.

Eriksen arrived at Inter in a circa €20 million deal and Inter appeared to have gotten themselves a real steal with Eriksen’s value at the time worth multiple times what they ultimately paid for him.

Things have however not worked out for the former Ajax player whilst in Milan where he has struggled to cement a place in the Inter starting line-up and left a lot to be desired with his performances on the pitch.
