Inter Dealing With A Midfield Crisis Again Ahead Of Final Champions League Group Stage Match, Italian Media Highlight

For the third straight season, Inter head into their final UEFA Champions League group stage match with a lack of midfielders available according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Against PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona, Inter found themselves with limited midfielders and they find themselves in this situation once again ahead of tomorrow’s match at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.

Inter are certain to be without Matias Vecino and Radja Nainggolan whilst both Nicolo Barella and Arturo Vidal are at great risk of missing out. Stefano Sensi is not at 100% whilst Christian Eriksen is on the sidelines of Inter’s project.

Roberto Gagliardini and Marcelo Brozovic will start but it is a mystery as to who will fulfil the final midfield role. Sensi or Eriksen could be drafted into the starting line-up but the report states that Inter manager Antonio Conte could perhaps deploy Alexis Sanchez as an attacking midfielder or perhaps even try use Ivan Perisic as a Mezzala.
