Inter centre back Milan Skriniar has spoken on a range of topics, starting with the role changes he has went through in his career, in an interview with Inter’s official matchday programme for tomorrow’s UEFA Champions League group stage match at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.

“I started playing because I wanted to become a footballer like my dad. I started out as a striker then over the years I became a midfielder and then a defender,” he began.

He then spoke on some of his best moments in an Inter shirt in his three and a half years in Milan.

“The debut with this shirt, especially the one in the Champions League and then wearing the captain’s armband in Udine, it was a great pride for me.”

He was then asked what his dream is whilst playing for Inter and spoke on his struggles when it comes to sleeping.

“The dream? Win with Inter and make the many fans who support us every day happy. After a game it is difficult to fall asleep, the adrenaline is great but now if I can’t sleep I can spend time with my baby, even at night.”

Next the Slovakian national team spoke on who his childhood footballing idol was: “Without a doubt Ronaldo, Il Fenomeno. I have never seen such a strong player!”

In conclusion he named his five a side team made up of some of the best players in Inter’s history: “In goal Julio Cesar, one of the strongest in his role. Then Samuel, the wall, an example, and Lucio, who paired with Samuel was very strong. Stankovic, who had class and power, and Ronaldo, my idol, a true phenomenon.”

This season the 25-year-old, who is contracted to Inter until the end of the 2022/23 season, has made eight appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has failed to make any goal contributions.
