Noted Italian football journalist and known Inter fan Fabrizio Biasin has shared his belief that Inter manager Antonio Conte has treated Christian Eriksen how he has lately on purpose but not to provoke the Danish national team player.
In the past few games Conte has fielded Eriksen for only a few minutes at the end of matches, treatment which has seen the former Juventus and Italian national team boss criticised by fans and media alike who consider such treatment to be needless.
“Since Conte is not a fool and he knows perfectly well that that move involves a reaction, it means that he did it on purpose,” he explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia, a short time ago.
“Did he do it to provoke the player? Honestly, I don’t think he’s angry with Eriksen. What I can imagine is that Antonio Conte, who has his own character, who is doing a good job, why create a problem in this case.”
He went on to conclude: “So in my opinion Antonio Conte, who hasn’t digested the chat at Villa Bellini, who hasn’t digested certain things, doesn’t have it in for Eriksen but it shows Inter in a bad light. For me this is not a provocation towards the player.”
Eriksen joined Inter in the most recent January transfer window from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur but he has failed to live up to expectations during his time with the club.
The 28-year-old has struggled to cement a regular place in the Inter starting line-up and has managed to contribute just four goals and three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions to date for the club.
