Lautaro Martinez’s representatives could be in Milan by the end of the year if not the start of next year to hold contract talks with Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The parties met in mid-September and during this meeting Inter made a promise to double the Argentine national team player’s current salary of €2.5 million plus add-ons. It is unclear whether or not this will be enough to satisfy Lautaro and his representatives.

The highly rated 23-year-old has long been linked with a potential switch to Barcelona, who were said to be ready to offer him a contract worth €10 million a year.

It is impossible for Inter to make such an offer to the former Racing Club player and equally as impossible for them to give him a contract that would match that of the club’s current highest earner Romelu Lukaku, who earns €7.5 million a year.

The report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to add that it cannot be excluded that Lautaro’s representatives get back in touch with Barcelona or Real Madrid, who have also been linked with him.
