Danish national team boss Kasper Hjulmand has shared his belief that a continued lack of playing time at Inter could impact the state that Christian Eriksen arrives for national team duty in.

In Inter’s past three matches across all competitions, Eriksen has been substituted on with only a minute or few minutes to go in matches and appears to be very much out of the club’s project not even a full year on from his arrival from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.

“It is clear that if Christian does not get more minutes than he has in the last few games, he will not be at his best when we meet again in March,” Hjulmand explained in an interview with Danish news outlet Tipsbladet.dk.

“Last time he did fantastic things with us, but the same goes for Christian as it does for all players. The more they play, the better the pace of the game.

“If a player is out of the team for a short time, this fact may not matter but for a longer period of time, then I say it’s not the best for the national team.”

Eriksen arrived at Inter in the most recent January transfer window and as per various reports in the media in recent days and weeks it appears almost inevitable that he will leave Inter next month.

Since joining Inter on a four and a half year contract, he has made 36 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and tallied three assists.
