Noted Italian football journalist and Italian broadcaster TeleLombardia director Fabio Ravezzani has revealed that if he were in Inter manager Antonio Conte’s shoes, he would not play Christian Eriksen in tonight’s UEFA Champions League group stage match at home to Shakhtar Donetsk.

With Nicolo Barella and Arturo Vidal both to miss out due to injury, multiple reports in the media have stated that Eriksen is first in line to complete the Nerazzurri midfield.

Eriksen has not started for Inter since their match versus Parma some 40 days ago and has recently been limited to playing the final few minutes of games.

Ravezzani has shared his belief that Conte will be criticised regardless of how Eriksen performs if he starts in the match versus Shakhtar Donetsk.

“If I were Conte, tonight, the last thing I would do is put Eriksen on from the first minute. If he played badly they would say, what did you expect? You demotivated him. If he plays well, they would accuse him of always ignoring a very strong midfielder,” he posted to social media platform Twitter.

This season Eriksen, who is contracted to Inter until 2024, has made 10 appearances across all competitions to date but has not made any goal contributions.
