After the Bologna game and the pleasant three points, every Interista was worried that the Real-Borussia game will be a draw and Inter’s win will not count for anything but a Europe League place.

The opposite took place tonight, Real won like a team who want to be involved and Shakhtar and Inter played a highly tactical game without taking any unnecessary risks.

Inter crash out of Europe and end up last in their Champions League group for the first time ever with only 6 points, 1 victory and a negative goal difference of 2.

Samir Handanovic – 6: Not much of note to do in the first half. One decent save but he made the right moves with and without the ball. Looked up for an important game.

Milan Skriniar – 6.5: Skriniar went from being on his way to London to an irreplaceable within a couple of months. Moves the ball so well. Looks like a complete defender

Stefan De Vrij – 6: Another great performance in a supporting role to Bastoni and Skriniar. Does not make mistakes, does not try to be flashy. Could have even scored.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6: One mistake in a high-pressure Champions League game. Other than that Ale did very well in all aspects. Growing into a very dependable defender

Achraf Hakimi – 6: Did not have the same attacking space and instinct in this game. Could have avoided the booking. Made some great defensive movements. Classy.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5: Played like there are no other options on the bench and he cannot be taken off. Wasted some golden chances and got a stupid booking for his reaction.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6.5: Brozovic in form as a regista is a joy to watch for everyone who loves football. Glides with the ball and diffuses difficult situations for fun all game.

Nicolo Barella – 6: Not sure where the injury was. Ran as he usually does, was involved a lot in the attacking moves. Makes the role of defending as a mid look so easy.

Ashley Young – 5: Poor outing from Ashley Young. Did not get forward that much and when he did the cross was either over/under hit or to no one in particular. Done?

Romelu Lukaku – 5.5: Took some time to get going in the game. The tackle from Vitao seemed like it slowed him down, but he had more impact in the second half for sure.

Lautaro Martinez – 5: Difficult to understand why Lautaro cannot ever bury chances in the Champions League. Just seemed off pace and like he was trying too hard. Tired?

Ivan Perisic – 5: Only thrown on as Ashley Young was having a shocker. Did not improve anything on the left as his well predicted crosses ended up with the keeper

Alexis Sanchez – 6: Made some impact when he came on. Looked like a breath of fresh air as Inter’s attacking moves were stale by half time. Too bad he could not score.

Christian Eriksen – N/A: The only player who looked like he wanted to score at the end. Trubin had to make a great save to deny Eriksen a last-ditch winner. Professional.

Darmian – SV : Came on too late to make any sort of impact. Maybe Conte should have tried him on the left instead of Perisic? Too many questions left unanswered

D’Ambrosio – N/A: As with Darmian he came on too late to change the game or give Inter any hope. Will probably play on Sunday as the CB’s need some rest right now.

Antonio Conte – 3: The 3-5-2 works and it is wonderful to see in league games. However, the timing of the subs and the desire to qualify deserves to be questioned. Poor.

Slavko Vincic – 5: Gave away too many easy fouls for either sides. Gave away too many cards for tackles that deserved a warning at most. Did not let the game flow.

Inter – 3: 3rd year in a row that the Champions League qualification hopes were alive till the last minute. This time Inter end up taking a step back in Europe.
