Christian Eriksen is hopeful that he could be handed the rare opportunity to start for Inter in this weekend’s Serie A match away to Cagliari according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInter1908.it.

Nicolo Barella took to the field in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League group stage match at home to Shakhtar Donetsk despite not being in the best of conditions and his condition will have to be monitored.

Barella could be rested and after coming on and doing well in the short time he was on the field in Wednesday, Eriksen hopes he could be among the starters in the midfield.

Marcelo Brozovic and Roberto Gagliardini will start for certain against the Rossoblu club given the absences and it now remains to be seen who will take up the third and final midfield slot.

The report goes on to add that Matteo Darmian and Ivan Perisic should replace Achraf Hakimi and Ashley Young at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.

Danilo D’Ambrosio could potentially replace Milan Skriniar at right centre back.
