Former Germany midfielder Thomas Berthold discussed Inter wing back Achraf Hakimi in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio Muscia earlier today.
“The Hakimi I saw in Dortmund is a very fast and dynamic player in the offensive phase, where he has more quality than the defensive one.
“Moreover, being a player still young and coming from the Spanish school, surely in the defensive phase he can and must improve, while in the offensive one he is an element really with great qualities.”
The 22-year-old Hakimi, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2025, has made 15 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for total of 932 minutes.
In that time, he has scored three goals and provided four assists, showing his incredible offensive qualities with a brace against Bologna last campaign.
Whilst the 22-year-old Moroccan has impressed offensively under coach Antonio Conte, he has shown his weaknesses defensively, which is an aspect he is currently working to improve.
Inter are currently third in Serie A after 10 games, sitting on 21 points, five less than rivals and league leaders AC Milan.
The Nerazzurri’s next game is against 12th place Cagliari tomorrow, a key game for the Milanese club to show their reaction after the disappointing early exit from the Champions League earlier this week.
