Inter coach Antonio Conte is hoping for two reinforcements in January to help him win the league title this season, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.
The report details how the 51-year-old Italian coach is essentially obligated to win the Scudetto this campaign after the Nerazzurri’s incredibly painful exit from the Champions League earlier this week.
Because Conte’s side finished bottom of the group, they did not even drop down into the Europa League, ending their European commitments entirely this season.
In the past, when Conte’s teams have only had to focus on the league from January onwards, they’ve always won the title. This was season in his first year in Turin with Juventus and first year in London with Chelsea.
The former Italy coach is expecting two reinforcements in January to help him achieve this goal, with the first being a defensive midfielder, and the second being a back-up striker.
Due to the current financial situation, the Milanese club will have to look to sell players in order to fund these deals.
Christian Eriksen, Radja Nainggolan, Matias Vecino and maybe Stefano Sensi or a defender will end up on the transfer list, with the space for alternatives in the squad shrinking.
