Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio discussed the Nerazzurri’s crucial 3-1 win over Cagliari earlier today in an interview with Italian broadcaster Inter TV after the game.

“I am convinced that this team has always put everything and given everything to achieve wins. In Serie A nothing is easy.

“If we put into consideration that three days earlier we failed to achieve our first goal of the season, this game was more difficult than usual.

“Despite the fact that it was an uphill battle we managed to turn the situation around, score three goals and bring home the win.”

The 32-year-old Italian, who scored against the Rossoblu in the game, touched on how he has now scored 20 goals in total for the Nerazzurri in his career.

“Although my career started in another part of the field I am a defender in all respects. “First of all, a defender must not let the team concede.

“Then if in some occasions he manages to score, he deserved a lot of merit and if he brings home the three points, even better.”

Finally, D’Ambrosio spoke about how the game showed the squad’s great reaction after their disappointing result against Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this week.

“Today, regardless of who would have scored the goal, the important thing was to bring home the points to help our path, our awareness.

“As I said before, even if we had scored two goals in the first half we would not have stolen anything. Unfortunately we went behind but we were willing and determined to get the three points.”

The 32-year-old D’Ambrosio, who is contracted to the Milanese club until the end of the season, has made 13 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 676 minutes.

In that time, he has scored three goals and helped the side keep three clean sheets.

The Milanese club’s 3-1 win against the Rossoblu earlier today was important as the squad needed to show a strong response after their incredibly disappointing early elimination from the Champions League earlier this week.

The 0-0 draw against Shakhtar Donetsk left them bottom of their group after six games, an embarrassing result that even eliminated any chances of competing in the Europa League.
