Former Inter striker Giampaolo Pazzini has sang the praises of Romelu Lukaku and stated what he feels the Belgian must have in order to be at his best.

“I think he is a strong player and he manages to express all his qualities when he gets proper service. He cannot be expected to come deep to take the ball or build-up play.

“He must be serviced well and in the final third,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia show ‘Sky Calcio Club’ following Sunday’s clash.

Pazzini then went on to share his belief that when Lukaku struggles, Inter also find themselves struggling.

“When Inter manages to do it, they manage to make all the others play well, while when they find closed defences, which cover the passing lines, then Lukaku’s difficulties begin and so they consequently begin for Inter.”

Pazzini also opened up on why he left Inter by explaining: “Was there tension with Inter? It was more from the club than from me. When I no longer felt liked, I left.”

Pazzini joined Inter in the January transfer window of the 2010/11 season from Sampdoria. After just 18 months into a four and a half year deal, he departed the Nerazzurri club for city rivals AC Milan in exchange for Antonio Cassano plus cash.

During his stint with Inter, Pazzini, who retired from playing a few months ago after he left Hellas Verona at the end of last season, scored 19 goals and tallied seven assists in 60 appearances across all competition to date.
