Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez will leave Atalanta and he will do so in the upcoming January transfer window according to a repot from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

Both the player and Bergamo club have a desire to go their separate ways and as per this report, Inter and AC Milan both have an interest in him.

The Nerazzurri and Rossoneri clubs are studying the possibility of doing a deal for the talented Argentine and it is both club’s priority to understand how much Atalanta actually want for the 32-year-old and the feeling is that Atalanta do not wish to make things any more complicated than they currently are.

The report goes on to suggest that the first enquiries suggest Gomez could be signed for as little as €7/8 million but if it is more than that it will be necessary for the Milanese clubs to make other evaluations.

The reason for this is because AC Milan are focusing on signing Hakan Calhanoglu to a new deal whilst Inter continue to think about signing Udinese’s Rodrigo de Paul.

A deal for de Paul is however likely to be complicated. Udinese want €30 million and Inter need to sell Radja Nainggolan, Matias Vecino or Christian Eriksen. Therefore if the right conditions are there to sign Gomez, it could be tempting.
