Legendary Inter midfielder Luis Suarez has shared his belief that Inter hold a real advantage over other sides in the race for the Serie A title due to the fact they are not involved in Europe, unlike the other contenders.
Inter were the only Italian club to be eliminated entirely from Europe following the conclusion of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League group stages last week and Suarez thinks this has given his former employers more than just a small advantage.
“Inter, having no European commitments, have a great advantage over teams like Napoli and Juventus,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli yesterday afternoon.
“Inter will now be able to plan each match with the utmost peace of mind, given that they will have one match a week.”
The Grande Inter icon then went on to stress that failure to win the Serie A title would be a disaster for Inter, especially given the money invested to make the squad better.
“I must however say that there is enormous disappointment for what the Nerazzurri are doing. A lot of money was invested to strengthen the team and without winning the Scudetto it would be a truly disastrous year. The title remains the only real result that could save a season.”
In conclusion the Spaniard was asked which Napoli player he would bring to Inter if he had the opportunity to do so and he responded with: “A Napoli player I would bring to Inter would be Insigne. He knows how to do everything, has quality and is very generous.”
