Inter had a deal in place with Paris Saint-Germain over a swap involving Marcelo Brozovic and Leandro Paredes according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

As per this report, the two clubs came to an agreement over swapping the Croatian and Argentine national team midfielders but the deal collapsed due to Paredes’ salary.

Whilst the deal collapsed, it has not put Inter off of signing Paredes with the report going on to explain that he is one of a number of defensive midfielders that Inter manager Antonio Conte would be would and in the event that Christian Eriksen is offloaded next month, Inter could potentially go back in for Paredes.

This season 26-year-old Paredes, who has previously played in Italy for Roma, has made 12 appearances across all competitions to date but he has not scored any goals nor has he assisted any in just shy of 700 minutes on the field.
