Carlo Alberto Belloni, the agent of Inter owned goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio, has revealed what convinced his client to move on loan to newly promoted Serie B club Monza this season.

“There were general talks with other clubs, but the Monza project was immediately welcomed,” Belloni explained in an interview with Italian news outlet Seriebnews.com.

“He was the first player, among the purchases made, that Galliani contacted. Michele appreciated this very much, he chose to go back to Serie B but with different objectives and ambitions.

“They wanted a goalkeeper who was good with his feet, not surprisingly. Everyone says he has the same ‘attack’ on the ball that Julio Cesar had.

“In the end, the two clubs made the right deal. The move to Monza also gave him the opportunity to return to live in Milan with his partner and have help from his mother and mother-in-law when it comes to the care of his son.”

Belloni then went on to reveal that it is his client’s dream to go on and represent the Inter first team in the future.

“It’s his dream, absolutely. It will seem trivial, but the renewal agreed this summer with Inter until June 2024 was a real formality.

“It was the fourth contract extension he has had at Inter. With the Nerazzurri club it’s always like this, a simple practice.

“Michele will never say no to Inter, he has grown up there since he was six and they have always been close to him. He is very attached to many people in the youth academy, like Samaden. If a club renews your contract for another four years, it is because the path you are taking is the right one.”

He then went on to admit that his client should not feel in a rush to make it into the Inter first team.

“He has the strength, the will and the right mindset, which is why he should believe in the Inter first team without being in a hurry because goalkeeper is a delicate role, so he must get there gradually.

“Apart from some exceptions such as Donnarumma, whom I consider a martian, a path is needed. Handanovic, for example, at Di Gregorio’s age was certainly not an Inter starter.

“In any case, Michele’s concentration is entirely on Monza, his goal is to give his best and possibly make a huge contribution to winning the league.”

Di Gregorio is a product of Inter’s youth academy and his loan spell with Monza is the latest in a long line of loan sppells, with him also having had loan spells with Renate, Avellino, Novara and Pordenone.

The 23-year-old, who has not yet made any senior appearances for Inter, has made three appearances across all competitions for Monza, in which he has kept a single clean sheet.
