Legendary Inter player Sandro Mazzola has shared his belief that tomorrow’s Serie A match between Inter and Napoli is only an important one for the hosts, Inter.

Inter head into the match sitting in second place in the Serie A standings having picked up 24 points after 11 games. Napoli are directly behind in third place with them having picked up 23 points in the same number of games.

“Tomorrow will be an important match for Inter but not for Napoli. If Inter do not win tomorrow, they will be massacred,” Mazzola explained in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Il Mattino, which appeared in today’s print edition of the Naples based news outlet.

He went on to explain how things are different for the visitors: “Napoli come into this match more serene, if they lose it is not a tragedy. Gattuso knows well that even a defeat certainly does not cut the Azzurri out of the fight for the Scudetto. The season is still very long.”

Mazzola spent the entirety of his senior career on Inter’s books between 1960 and 1977. He made over 500 appearances across all competitions for the club during his spell with them and scored well over 100 goals too. The former Italian national team player won several trophies at Inter as part of the Grande Inter side of the 1960s.
