Inter centre back Alessandro Bastoni has shared his belief that tonight’s match with Napoli will be a tough one and stressed just how important it is for Inter to win such games.

“It’s a tough match because Napoli are a great opponent, they’re just below us. It’s important right now to win points against rivals and we’ll try to do it in every way possible,” he remarked in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster, a short time before kick off at San Siro.

He then reiterated the importance of winning such matches by adding: “Words are of little use in these matches. For every player it’s always nice to win these matches. You have to go out on the pitch and win the match.”

In conclusion he was asked what he is expecting from the match seeing as it will be the two best attacking teams in Serie A facing off against one another.

“We will be able to overcome them in this ranking of the best attack by improving our defensive phase, we will try to stop their forwards. However hard it may be, we will give it our all.”

In a follow up interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the former Atalanta player, who is under contract with Inter until 2023, spoke on Inter only being involved in domestic competition now.

“We have the Scudetto and the Italian Cup left, we will do everything to win all our games.”

He was then asked whether he is worried about Napoli who are just one point behind them in the Serie A table after 11 games played: “Worried about Napoli? We know the value of our opponents, it will be tough, but we are ready and we will do everything to win.”
