Inter captain and number one goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has admitted that both he and his teammates will enjoy tonight’s victory over Napoli before thinking of this weekend’s Serie A match at home to newly promoted Spezia.

Inter ran out narow 1-0 winners over Napoli at San Siro thanks to a Romelu Lukaku penalty and are now just one point off of top spot in Serie A after AC Milan drew versus Genoa.

“Winning is always important every time we go out on the pitch. Today it was even more important because it was a direct clash.

“We are satisfied, we will enjoy this victory tonight and then we will think about Spezia,” he explained to Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, following the conclusion of the match at San Siro.

The Slovenian shot-stopper, who is under contract with Inter until the end of the season, proceeded to discuss the game further and pointed out an area of play where he thinks Inter could have done better in the match.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy because last year we faced them four times, we are two teams that know each other pretty well.

“The game was very tactical and closed off. No-one wanted to be caught out, everyone was waiting for the right movement and who would capitalize on it first.

“Luckily we were the ones to do so. We suffered and we can manage the game better. ”

In conclusion the former Udinese player shared his delight with the clean sheet he recorded, which was his fifth across all competitions to date this term: “This makes everyone happy, especially the goalkeeper who goes to sleep peacefully.”
