Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez and Atalanta are to meet to discuss how to handle the present but the future has already been sealed according to a report from Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

Relations between Gomez and Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini are at an all time low and the parties, who are in close contact, are to meet to come to an agreement over a strategy for the short term in order for Atalanta’s results to not suffer.

It appears that it is past the point of no return when it comes to either Gomez or Gasperini stepping back and apologising and it appears only a matter of time until Gomez will depart the Bergamo based club.

Atalanta are against the idea of freeing Gomez and have the firm intention of making money by selling him, despite his age.

Gomez is understood to want to remain playing in Italy but Atalanta would not want to strengthen one of their competitors at the top end of the Serie A standings. Inter and AC Milan have been linked with signing him by various media outlets whilst this report states that talk of a move to Paris Saint-Germain or Atletico Madrid is nothing more than rumours.
