Inter manager Antonio Conte would not object to the signing of Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez according to a report from Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

The Argentine has fallen out with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini and he is facing an uncertain future with the Bergamo club with there even being talk of a possible contract termination in order to make finding a new club easier for him.

Inter are interested in him as are AC Milan and both clubs are awaiting developments. Roma and Napoli making moves for the 32-year-old cannot be ruled out either. The report explains that a condition to Inter making an offer is that Gomez can be picked up on a free transfer, or almost.

The report also goes on to explain that whilst Gomez does play in the same position as Christian Eriksen, who has not fared well at Inter, he is a player who is more suited to Conte’s style than the Dane and would not pretend to be an immovable starter.

Inter could perhaps be the most attractive offer that Gomez will receive but if faced with multiple offers, he could ultimately decide to the club where he will have the greatest importance.

The report goes on to conclude that signing Gomez is not a priority at this moment neither for Inter nor Conte. The priority today at the Nerazzurri is to trim the current squad down by getting rid of players not part of the project.
