Noted Italian football journalist Paolo Condo has praised Inter for how they have managed to reduce the gap on city rivals AC Milan at the top of Serie A.

AC Milan have drawn both of their last two games in Serie A whilst Inter have won both of theirs meaning there is now just a single point separating the sides at the top.

“The two draws were needed by AC Milan to keep the lead ahead of Inter, who gained four points in four days by yesterday winning a direct clash with the cynicism of which the winning teams are often credited with,” he began his latest column for Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica, which appeared in today’s print edition.

He then went on to highlight Inter’s kind schedule between now and Christmas with them due to play host to newly promoted Spezia this weekend and then they will travel to take on Hellas Verona on December 23.

“The match with Napoli was a long chess match and the schedule from now until Christmas is on the side of the Nerazzurri rather than Rossoneri.”

Condo then spoke on what spending time at the top at Christmas would do for Inter and what will be decided when Juventus come to Milan to take on both AC Milan and Inter next month at San Siro.

“Spending the short holiday period at the top of the standings would consolidate the situation ahead of Juventus coming to San Siro to take on both sides in January to draw up the definitive hierarchy.”
