Italian journalist Paolo Condo spoke about Inter’s strong domestic form whilst speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.

“I think that the elimination from European competition will bring important advantages to Inter in the spring, wishing the best to the Italian teams still in Europe, as it allows them to train on a weekly basis.

“I already thought that Inter and Juve could be the main candidates, being able to train during the week.

“The elimination, in fact, is already forgotten by Conte, who can now focus on the league that remains the Nerazzurri’s key objective. Inter and Juventus are the strongest teams, if I had to bet, I would bet on them.”

The Nerazzurri, despite their incredibly disappointing Champions League campaign this season, have started to impress in the league, winning their last five Serie A games.

Antonio Conte’s side have shaken off their sluggish start to the season and now sit second in the league table after 12 games, with 27 points.

They start this weekend three points ahead of Juventus, and must look to win against newly promoted Spezia tomorrow in order to keep up the pressure on the current league leaders AC Milan, who are one point ahead.

Inter’s final game of 2020 will be against Ivan Juric’s Hellas Verona next week, a tough game considering the strengths of the Gialloblu, who beat Lazio last weekend.

The Bianconeri are having a slower start to the season than normal, remaining undefeated but picking up six draws, giving the Milanese clubs the chance to break their almost decade long domestic dominance.
