Inter are hoping that Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez will break his seven game goal drought against Spezia today, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Corriere della Sera.

The report details how the 23-year-old Argentine forward, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, scored his last goal against Torino, almost exactly a month ago.

Since then, he has failed to find the back of the net in the last seven consecutive games, his worst goal drought of the season so far.

He will start alongside partner Romelu Lukaku today against newly promoted Spezia, a good opportunity to break his drought and return to the score sheet.

Lautaro has made 18 appearances across all competitions so far this season, scoring six goals and providing four assists in that time.

Coach Antonio Conte decided not to attend a press conference yesterday, instead preferring to fully focus on today’s match against the Ligurian side.
