Inter manager Antonio Conte wants a back-up to Marcelo Brozovic signed in next month’s transfer window if not a player better than him according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

In his post-match press conference following yesterday’s 2-1 win over Spezia, Conte highlighted the lack of alternatives to Brozovic, who is ultimately the only true regista available to him.

The report goes on to explain that it is no coincidence that Conte wanted Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante to be signed. Whilst Kante is less technically gifted than Brozovic, he is certainly effective and used to playing in front of the defence, more so than Brozovic.

It is difficult, if not impossible, for Inter to be able to sign Kante in the January transfer window. Conte is therefore evaluating the possibility of an exchange with Paris Saint-Germain for Leandro Paredes or one with Arsenal for Granit Xhaka. The report does not specify which player could be swapped for either Paredes or Xhaka.
