Inter are keeping a close eye on developments in Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez’s situation at Atalanta according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.
Gomez is largely expected to depart Atalanta in next month’s transfer window and there have been clubs sniffing around to understand what it will take to sign him.
Inter are watching the situation but do not want to be rude to a club they have friendly relations with. AC Milan are also interested in signing the 32-year-old Argentine, who could perhaps even end up at Roma or Napoli although the report states they are more focused on signing a central defender instead.
As things currently stand, Atalanta are unwilling to reinforce one of their rivals for a place in the UEFA Champions League by giving them Gomez and they are hardly going to reduce their €10 million demands for the ex-Catania attacker, who is out of contract at the end of next season.
