Inter are far from alone in having an interest in signing Atalanta attacker Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Gomez and his representatives have asked Atalanta to free him in the upcoming January transfer window although Atalanta have no intention of doing this or strengthening one of their direct competitors for UEFA Champions League qualification. For this reason it cannot be excluded that Gomez could move away from Italy.

As things currently stand, Inter, Roma, Lazio, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain all have an interest in signing Gomez.

The report states that it remains to be seen which, if any, of these clubs would be willing to pay €10 million, plus pay him for at least two years, which would take the total cost of a deal to around €25 million, for a player who will turn 33 in February. There is also understood to be interest from American sides.
