Legendary former AC Milan player Alessandro Costacurta has shared his belief that Atalanta’s Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez would be a perfect fit in Antonio Conte’s Inter side.

Gomez’s future with Atalanta is right up in the air following a severe breakdown in relations and Inter are one of a number of clubs to have been linked with potentially capitalising on the situation by acquiring the Argentine.

Inter have been one of the strongest linked clubs whilst other reportedly interested clubs include AC Milan as well as other Serie A clubs and some clubs from outside of Italy.

“I think that his Gomez would be perfect as the third midfielder in Conte’s set-up,” Costacurta explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport 24, earlier on today.

Costacurta, who spent all barring one season of his professional career at AC Milan, went on to add: “Gagliardini is having an excellent season, but he lacks that quality that Sensi, once back at 100%, will be able to return to giving.

“Papu would be a further addition to the quality that Inter needs in the middle of the pitch. Let’s not forget Eriksen.”

Gomez, who is under contract with Atalanta until the end of next season, has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date this term, in which he has scored five goals and provided four assists.
