Inter wing-back Achraf Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano has revealed that he is very happy with how things are going for his client at Inter a few months on from his arrival at the club from Real Madrid.

“I am very happy. The sporting side of Inter worked very hard in the last two years to bring Hakimi to the Nerazzurri,” he remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

“They made a very important investment at a time when we are all worried about the future of football. This is why I think the effort made by the Nerazzurri is very important. He is a 22-year-old player, with a bright future and a lot to give. So thanks to the club.”

He then went on to discuss how his client is finding life at Inter and revealed that Inter were far from the only club interested in him during the Summer,

“From the player’s point of view, Achraf is very happy at Inter. This is the step he wanted to take and that he decided to take.

“There were 10 teams in Europe interested in him but he chose Inter, the team he wanted to play for and for which he now gives everything for. Game after game we will analyse what will be, but in principle we can all say we are particularly happy.”

Camano was then asked why Hakimi opted to join Inter over the plethora of other clubs who came in for him.

“First of all because Inter have historically set very important goals. Hakimi, before signing for the Nerazzurri, had seen many of their matches. He is a very smart guy. He had spoken with Borja Valero, who is also one of our clients. His words of love made Hakimi understood what it means to play for Inter.

“He wanted to follow the club, to understand it and to know who he could have as his new teammates. As soon as I told him about the Nerazzurri, he was already in love with them. Today he has the Inter genes and gives everything for the shirt.”

Next Camano was asked whether Hakimi could be the next Roberto Carlos at Inter.

“We respect this comparison, but each player has their own story and we are in a different kind of football from the past.

“Modern football has distinct peculiarities compared to those of years ago. So I don’t want to make comparisons, although it is an honour that such comparisons are made.

“I would like to talk about Hakimi and his trajectory. The players are consolidated in history by playing well and winning trophies. This is why Achraf will work giving his best and helping his teammates with the aim of winning on the pitch.”

In conclusion Camano was asked about the potential growth that his client could make under the stewardship of Inter manager Antonio Conte.

“Achraf has just turned 22. We are at the beginning of a beautiful and long love story with Inter, in which he will try to achieve all his goals. He has the world ahead of him and also thanks to the quality of his teammates he will be able to learn and become stronger, there is no doubt about it.”

Since joining Inter, Hakimi has made 18 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored four goals and provided as many assists.
