A number of Italian media outlets have been unanimous in their praise of Inter central defender Milan Skriniar for his performance in Inter’s win away to Hellas Verona last night.
The Slovakian national team player scored what proved to be the winning goal for Inter shortly after Ivan Ilic had equalised for the hosts at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi. As well as making a contribution in the attacking phase of the game, the former Sampdoria player was also solid in the defensive phase.
Gazzetta dello Sport, Corriere dello Sport, Tuttosport plus PassioneInter.com have all given Skriniar high praise as part of their player ratings for the match, which was Inter’s seventh straight win in Serie A. All four outlets rewarded him with a rating of 7/10.
Gazzetta dello Sport said: “Definitely recovered after a long period where he was on the bench a lot. He was back to himself and scored a good goal.”
Corriere dello Sport said: “He did not think about letting Zaccagni escape. A little uncertain at Hellas Verona’s equaliser but he remedied the situation with his game winning goal and ended a goal drought that lasted since February 2018.”
Tuttosport said: “In the match in July, Lazovic drove him mad. This time he July match Lazovic had driven him mad. This time he had to deal with Zaccagni, who he controlled well. He also scored the game winning goal which was his first of the season.”
PassioneInter.com said: “In the first half he was equally at fault as the wingers for the play leading up to Dimarco’s chance to score, in the second half he finally managed to get on the scoresheet something he’s been missing for a long time
This season Skriniar, who joined Inter in 2017 and is under contract until 2023, has made 12 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park he has scored a single goal.
