Inter linked full back Marcos Alonso will join Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the upcoming January transfer window, after his failed move to the Nerazzurri in the summer, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The report details how the Milanese club looked to sign the 29-year-old Spaniard in the summer transfer window, but a deal collapsed with Chelsea after the Blues requested a loan with a buy-back fee, a condition not accepted by the Nerazzurri.

After a further six months in London, Alonso will leave next month, returning to his native country to play for Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid on a six-month loan.

Alonso has hardly featured under coach Frank Lampard this season, making only three appearances across all competitions for a total of 225 minutes.

Last campaign, the former Fiorentina man made 29 appearances, totally 2344 minutes of play. On the pitch, he scored four goals and provided three assists.
