Former Inter forward Nicola Ventola discussed his career and some stories from his playing time in an interview with Italian broadcaster Inter TV yesterday afternoon.

“In 1998 my debut for Inter against Cagliari. Kallon was strong. He was up to the task with me of replacing two phenomena.

“We entered the fans’ hearts because we did well. Cuper asked us to track back a lot, but we were proud to be first in the table.

“I’ve always liked Moratti. Then there was Ronaldo, Baggio, Pirlo, it was the team of the future. We were strong, we had a difficult year, but the competition was very high for me.

“I tried to take something from each of these phenomena. Goal against United? We took the lead, there was an incredible roar.”

Ventola spent five years of his career tied to the Nerazzurri, from 2000 to 2005. The Italian forward was sent on loan three times during his time in Milan, to Atalanta, Siena and Crystal Palace.

He failed to find consistency with the Nerazzurri and featured more prominently for his next team, Atalanta, from 2005 to 2007.

Ventola made 64 appearances for Inter across all competitions, for a total of 3827 minutes. In that time, he scored 21 goals and provided two assists.

Inter are currently second in the Serie A table after 14 games, sitting on 33 points, one behind league leaders and rivals AC Milan.

Their next game is against newly promoted Crotone on the 3rd January, a must win game as they look to keep up the pressure on the Rossoneri.
