Inter have initiated talks with the representatives of Marcelo Brozovic over a new contract with the club according to a report from Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The Croatian national team player is under contract with the Nerazzurri club until the end of next season and Inter wish to avoid the risk of him going into the final year of his contract.

Inter’s intention is to extend Brozovic’s current deal by a couple of years and there would also be a salary increase as part of the new deal. Brozovic currently earns €3.5 million a year and Inter do not plan on going much higher than that.

The report goes on to add that as part of the new contract, Inter could remove the €60 million release clause that currently features in the former Dinamo Zagreb player’s contract.

This season the 28-year-old has made 17 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored one goal and provided three assists for his teammates.
