Inter owe their recent turnaround in form to their new found defensive solidity according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter have played with Stefan de Vrij, Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni in the last eight games. They are unbeaten in this time having won seven and drawn the other and the report states this is Inter manager Antonio Conte’s modern day equivalent to the Leonardo Bonucci, Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini that brought him success whilst in charge of Juventus.

Stefan de Vrij recently made his 100th appearance for Inter and plays the role of veteran in this Inter defence. After some initial struggles, Milan Skriniar has now got used to playing in a three man defence whilst Bastoni has grown in terms of personality.

The report from the Milan based news outlet goes on to add that the trio make it easy to forget the many goals that Inter conceded early on in the season when they were playing Aleksandar Kolarov at centre back.
