Marko Rog suffering an injury that will keep him out long term could incentivise Cagliari to make moves on the transfer market according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, which was broadcast a short time ago.

The Croatian national team player has ruptured his cruciate ligament and whilst Cagliari are yet to release a statement, the report explains that he should undergo surgery tomorrow in Germany.

With Rog set to be out for the foreseeable future, Cagliari could be encouraged to sign a new midfielder in January and as things stand, Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan remains the favourite.

Nainggolan is considered as out of the Inter project and has long been linked with a return to the Sardinia based club, who he spent last season on loan with.

Despite being out of the Inter project, the report from the broadcaster goes on to stress that Inter will not just give him away.
