The breakdown in relations between Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez and Atalanta is a difficult one to mend according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.

In the past few weeks, relations have broken down and it can now almost be taken for granted that the Argentine will leave the Bergamo based club in next month’s transfer window.

Gomez trained separately to his teammates as they returned to training yesterday following a few days off over the holiday period and it remains to be seen what will happen over the next few days.

At this moment in time, Atalanta are unprepared to drop their demands below €10 million. With him being 32-years-old though, it is likely that the price will have to be revised downward, the report suggests.

The report goes on to conclude that it is possible that there could be a meeting between the parties in the next few days to discuss things.
