Radja Nainggolan has admitted that he wishes to rediscover the joy of playing football during his loan spell with Cagliari.

The Inter central midfielder underwent a medical in Rome earlier on today ahead of completing a six month loan switch to the Sardinia based club, where he spent the duration of last season on loan.

Various reports have stated that it is a dry loan therefore Cagliari have no option to purchase nor are they obliged to purchase Nainggolan at the end. Other reports have stated they will pay almost all of his wages for the loan spell.

“I want to rediscover the joy of playing football that was taken away from me in this first part of the season,” Nainggolan explained to gathered journalists upon landing in Sardinia a short time ago, as quoted by Italian news outlet Centotrentuno.com.

The Belgian, who has been with Inter since 2018, then dismissed the idea that the move to Cagliari is a personal victory for him and stressed he wants what he does on the pitch to be spoken about, not whatever happens off of it.

“Is this a personal victory? No , I like playing football and that’s what I would like to do. I would just like to be talked about for what I do on the pitch, I have read absurd things.”

He then went on to explain: “I’m fine, I am finally here like I was last summer and next summer, let’s see what happens. I’m someone who is being moved left and right.

He then spoke on Cagliari boss Eusebio Di Francesco and what he makes of the make-up of the Rossoblu squad.

“Di Francesco? I talked to him. Already in the summer he wanted me here, now we have succeeded. I see a strong and competitive team.

“There has been no consistency but I know that with so many new and young players it is not easy. You can see however that there is an identity.

He concluded: “I am ready to put my experience at the team’s disposal to get the results that Cagliari deserves. “
