Inter have overtaken crosstown rivals AC Milan in the race to sign Atalanta’s Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez after having agreed terms with the player for a contract, Italian media outlet FcInterNews.it reports.

According to the report, the Argentinian international attacker wants to remain in Italy and the Serie A and more precisely the city of Milan.

AC Milan had approached the player but the Nerazzurri have overtaken their crosstown rivals and have agreed terms with the former Catania player.

The agreement between the parties is over a contract which would see Papu Gomez earn €2,5 million net per season until the end of June 2023, similar to what he is currently on at Atalanta, the report continues.

Now Inter need to find an agreement with Atalanta, who according to the same source, are asking €10 million in but are open to players being included in the deal to lower the cash part of the payment.

The Nerazzurri are very keen on this formula as it would allow them to make capital gains on players sent to the Bergamo outfit.

However, first Christian Eriksen’s future at Inter needs to be resolved, before a deal can be finalized the report concludes.
