Lazio are denying that Atalanta’s Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez is on the club’s radar according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Argentine, who is currently the captain of the Bergamo based club, is widely expected to move on in next month’s transfer window following a breakdown in relations.

In the past few days the 32-year-old has been linked with a possible switch to the Italian capital city club, who showed an interest in him a few years ago before signing Joaquin Correa.

The report goes on to state that Lazio are denying recent media speculation and the report adds that the team with the advantage in the race to sign Gomez is Inter.

Gomez, who is under contract with Atalanta until 2023, has been strongly linked with Inter for several weeks and a recent report has even suggested Inter have offered Atalanta the chance to sign Andrea Ranocchia or Roberto Gagliardini as part of a loan swap deal.
