Inter have no obligation to win the Serie A title, despite their completeness from a structural point of view, at least in the eyes of noted Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia journalist Luca Marchetti.

Following Inter’s elimination from all European competition a few weeks back, several pundits and media outlets have stated that Inter are now obliged to win the Serie A title but Marchetti does not see it this way.

“Inter are not in a hurry. Inter do not want to rush their coach and from a communicative point of view it is understandable that the desire of the whole management team is to not put pressure on the coach, after the second place finish last year, improving means winning,” he explained in his latest column for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

“Nobody has the obligation to win, let that be clear but the fact that Inter structurally are among the most complete, if not the strongest, is a banality.”

Marchetti then touched upon what Inter’s newfound solidity, especially in the defence that was previously leaking goals, has allowed Inter to achieve on the park.

“There are many unknowns it is true, but now with the newfound solidity they finds themselves up there, only one point from the top of the table.”

Marchetti then went on to address how Inter will deal with things in the upcoming January transfer window and claimed that Radja Nainggolan, who completed a loan move to Cagliari earlier on today until the end of the season, will not be replaced.

“Moves on the transfer market? They will only be done at no cost and a departure does not necessarily presuppose an arrival.

“For example Nainggolan will not be replaced. This is because he himself said that despite being fine he was never used. Instead, he was needed at Cagliari, especially after Rog’s injury.”
