Italian Media Analyses Inter Striker Romelu Lukaku’s Incredible Work In 2020

A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has analysed Inter striker Romelu Lukaku’s impressive work in 2020.

The report details how the 27-year-old Belgian striker, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, has scored 34 goals in Serie A since his arrival from Manchester United in last year’s summer transfer window, instantly becoming a core presence of the pitch for coach Antonio Conte.

Lukaku’s tally has seen him join the list of great Inter strikers who found success instantly, like Brazilian star Ronaldo who scored 38 goals in the same time span, or Diego Milito who scored 37.

It’s unlikely that Lukaku will catch up with the pair in the one game before his 50th Serie A appearance, but it shows that the player has made fans instantly forget about Mauro Icardi and cheer on a new star forward.

Apart from Brazilian Ronaldo and Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Diego Milito, only two players have done better than Lukaku in their first year in Serie A, Andriy Shevchenko and Vincenzo Montella, who scored 37 and 36 respectively.

Lukaku has also scored 10 penalties out of 10 that he has taken for the Nerazzurri, nine by beating the keeper, and his competition for best penalty taker in Inter’s history is Roberto Boninsegna, who scored all of his first 20.
